This is our standard setup for a three-song session! If you like the look of our in-studio videos and your band wants a great-looking Live Session, then this is the package for you!
Consistency in quality is the name of the game here at Dogtown Studio. We’ve done over 200 of these sessions, so you can be confident in the quality of the finished product that you’ll get. You don’t have to take the risk on some friend-of-a-friend with a video camera who has “done some music videos before”, or the studio who “thinks” they know how to set up a recording for a video. When you go with Dogtown, you know exactly what you are going to get, so you don’t have to worry about it!
What You'll Get:
- Video of 3 Songs Each song exported as a separate video. Delivered Via Google Drive.
- Professional Audio from Live Sessions You can upload this to Spotify or any other streaming platform. (Audio delivered in .WAV format)
- Custom designed title illustration of your band name at the beginning of the videos, to make a sharp first impression. These titles are custom designed to match your band’s aesthetic.
Session Details:
When you get a Standard Session Package at Dogtown, we include everything: Setup, audio recording, video recording, mixing, editing, and one round of revisions. This package is shot at Dogtown Studio, which is located in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Note: This package is a standard setup, and it is always filmed in our studio. If you have more advanced creative aesthetic ideas and want to create a fully unique, custom-looking vibe for your shoot, you should choose the “Custom Session Consultation” option, and we can get to work brainstorming your session! With these “Standard Full Band” sessions, you’re welcome to bring in props, costumes, or other things to enhance the aesthetic, but more advanced aesthetic ideas, creative story-telling, or other creative needs would fall into the “Custom Session” category. You’re welcome to start loading in a half hour before the start of your session!
When filming live recordings like this, the most important prep work you can do is simply being as well-rehearsed as possible! Make this session count! We know that many bands can play shows without rehearsing new material, by simply sending the demos to the band members and then having them show up and play the songs… there’s nothing wrong with doing that, but we’ve noticed that this approach doesn’t work as well when the session is actually being recorded. The players always end up noticing small mistakes that they could have let slide during a live show. But with rehearsal, three songs is always doable! We’ve experimented with different lengths and found through experience that three hours is the perfect time slot for a Standard Full Band Session!
Dogtown Studio is one place where you will NOT be considered a diva for caring about how you look! The dress and style of the performer is actually one of the first factors that the viewer sees, so don’t be afraid to embrace this opportunity to dress the part of your music! Fashion is a part of your art- it’s all related! Some musicians even bring a different outfit for each song- this is totally cool! Lighter colors often “pop” more, and are easier to distinguish from the background. But if black is your style, or if it fits the mood of the song, that always works too!
The turnaround time is 7-10 days, so you won’t have to wait long for your finished product to be delivered via Google Drive! (If needed, a faster turnaround time can be arranged for a fee).

Your Session Timeline:
Upon booking
Upon booking your session: Check-in call or email
When you book your bands session, a team member from Dogtown Studio will connect with you to set up a phone meeting (or email correspondence, if you prefer) to get to know you and check in about your band’s setup and aesthetic vision!

30 minutes before start time: Equipment load-in.
The load in-process begins a half hour before the start of your scheduled 3 hour time block. Just like a live show, every band needs a little extra time to get comfortable and set up in the space.
0:00 - 1:00
First 60-90 minutes: Set up & soundcheck.
The first half of your scheduled time block is usually spent with set up, mic adjustment, lighting, and making sure all of your band members are set up where you want them.
1:00 - 3:00
Last 90-120 minutes: Show time!
Typically, this time block works great to record 3 full live song sessions. It gives us enough buffer time to make things truly incredible, with enough wiggle room for small mistakes.
3:00 - 3:15
Load out: Shut down & go home!
You came, you played, you conquered! Now let’s all go home, get some rest, and dream of how cool you’ll look and sound when you get your completed live session back. <3
7-10 days later
7-10 days later: The final product.
